ANCHORAGE LOG CABIN QUILTERS
Business Meeting October 1, 2009
Call to order at 10:35 A.M. by president Pam Harris. 40 members were present. New members and visitors were introduced. Minutes of the last meeting were accepted as printed in the newsletter.
Treasurer Betty Bivins reported $6,858.21 in checking account, $10,888,42 in savings and $3,266.23 in gaming account. The full report is on file with the secretary.
Old Business: Jackie Carley expressed belief that the spring quilt retreat should be self supporting and asked that the decision to give the retreat committee additional monies above and beyond what quilters pay for the retreat be reconsidered. After discussion, Rosemary Slisz moved that members email their concerns and opinions on this issue to the members-at-large. The motion was seconded and past.
Jackie Carley requested that people sign up to decorate a table for the Christmas party.
Committee Reports:
Membership: Pat Schroder invited new members to call her if they have any questions.
Library: Darlene Apple explained the library and invited new members as well as old members to check it out.
Comfort Quilts: Rosemary Slisz announced that Comforts Quilt will meet October 29, from 9:30-2:00 and invited everyone to come.
Workshops: Mary Gerken reported that the Larken Van Horn workshops went well. Workshops for 2010 are Mary Ceasar and Sharon Schamber. Paula Nadelstern will give a lecture for the Guild in March. Vikki Pignatelli will be coming in 2011. The committee will not be scheduling a famous quilter workshop in 2012.
Program: Judy Crosby reported that the Guild is still in need of programs for January, April, June, July and August, 2010. Please let her know if anyone has ideas.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Linda Postelthwait announced that she has the catalog for books and calendars from the American Quilt Society and will be sending in an order. As the Guild is a member of AQS, it receives a 30% discount on orders.
Kay Fiero asked that those members leaving the state for the winter please let her know their addresses and the dates they will be gone so that she can mail the newsletter to them.
Pam Harris reminded everyone that she has fabric for the President’s Challenge for next year and also the information about the Fiber Festival.
Friends of Pets Quilt Auction is October 10 at the University Mall.
Rosemary Slisz reminded people that there is comfort quilt fabric available for members to take home. There is also a pile of drapery and upholstery samples that people are free to take.
