Show &Tell Aug.6, 2009

A very kind person sent these first 2 pictures to me, from the Gail Garber class, to share with you all. I am sorry to say, I have lost the envelope she mailed them in, & can't remember who she was, so if you know, please email me at akquilter1@acsalaska.net, so I can give her credit.

Today Doris Rhodes showed us a "Famous" quilt made by several of our members about 20 years ago for another member. Doris will be showing this quilt at the quilt show this year. This quilt was published in Ladies Patchwork Circle magazine. It now lives in a local dentist's office.
Kay Fiero showed "Up a Creek Without a Paddle", which she donated for the SQA* (*Small Quilt Auction next month at our quilt show). Below is here applique quilt from a "Spring Bouquet" pattern.

Vickie Fuller showed "My Favorite Things", a quilt made for one of her grandsons.

Nancy Freeborn Showed a small quilt for the SQA* made from a Buggy Barn pattern.

Elaine Fergen finished this "Twice Broken Dishes" quilt, which she had started in 1993 in a Debby Caffry class. Glenda Cross quilted it for her.

Harriet Shaftel made 2 Harry Potter wall quilts for this year's SQA.

This web-mistress thinks she needs to buy the H! since my last name is Hardman & I love Harry Potter!

Delberta Trevithick made this picture quilt for a friend.

She also made a new Schlep bag from tapestry fabrics.

Here is the reverse.

Judy Wedemeyer quilted this Jinny Beyer block for the SQA*,

& this Bear quilt.

Judy also shared several pieces of fabric that she rust dyed recently.

She experimented with all different types of fabric scraps.

Mary Lee finished her quilt started in the Gail Garber class.

Sandy Winfree finished her "Lady in the Autumn Scarf" & donated her for the SQA!

Ruthe Rasmussen got this block from the ALCQ night group's "Ugly Fabric Challenge", & made this to go into the SQA*.

Kay Baehr did this Lisa Moore pattern for the SQA*.

Pres. Pam Harris made this for the SQA* from the night group's 2 color crayon challenge.

Pat Sims brought several small quilts made by former member Janell Cohen, who passed away from cancer recently. Her family has donated these for the SQA, Teddy Bear, & Comfort quilts.

Darlene Appel Showed "Judy's Gift" (I think she said it was for the SQA*),

& 2 Comfort quilts that she finished off with quilting & binding.

Rosemary Slisz showed these 2 Comfort Quilts.

Betty Bivins showed this piece of fabric that she rust dyed.

Deb Hardman quilted this quilt for her customer Kathy Murray. It was made in a class from a Judy Niemeyer pattern.

Deb also showed her 3 thread paintings done on computer printed fabric from her original photos. She framed them in frames made from old wood, because the rust dyed fabric surrounding each picture was impossible to stitch through with the sewing machine. The Rust fabric was all hand quilted. The theme for these was "The Ravages of Time".

The first is a picture of the Eklutna Cemetery Spirit House.

The second is an old falling-down cabin in Hope, AK.

This last one was an old truck oust side of Port Townsend, WA.
