February 15 Program and Show and Tell

"It's All About Color! (Or Is It?)" was the title of the program presented by art quilter, artist, and guild member Cat Larrea. Her interesting and informative slide show and lecture about the role of color gave us greater insights into how to choose fabrics for our quilts. Thanks, Cat, for your information and tips.

After the program, guild members showed their latest quilt projects. Many of them have already finished the UFO's (UnFinished quilt Objects) that we have been challenged to complete.

Barbara's "bucket list" included Christmas fabric from 1996.
In an ice dyeing class, Barbara created this fabric and the piece pictured below.

Another of Barbara's UFOs was to make this jewelry holder for her mother's Christmas pins.
Betty showed a cute small quilt which will go with a stuffed animal for the Teddy Bear Tea in April.
The back of Bonny's table runner, made in a Judy Niemeyer pattern class, shows Bonny's amazing quilting.
The front of Bonny's table runner is colorful.

Guild members have made several comfort quilts which will be donated to local social service agencies.

Katy's quilting on the back of this quilt shown above is filled with trees and moose.

Connie created this beautiful jacket in a class on jacket making.

Delberta finished this UFO small quilt.
Delberta made this scrappy small quilt to go with a very colorful stuffed animal.
Harmony made this quilt for a nephew's baby.
Harmony hand quilted this comfort quilt.
Harmony also attended the ice dyeing class and created these two pieces of fabric.

Jacky created this fabric in the ice dyeing class.
Jacky saw this fabric from the ice dyeing class as a work in progress. She would like to over-dye it for more color.
This small quilt made by Jacky will be on display in the March quilt show, "Celebration  of Quilts", at Doriola's Restaurant.

Linda created a small quilt using a Teresa Ascone fabric panel.
Marie has made several small quilts for the "Celebration of Quilts" Show. This one is titled "La La Landscape."

Marie has titled this small quilt, "Stripes, Spots, and Stars Escher Scape."

"Modest Tree" is another small quilt made by Marie.
Mary H. made this baby quilt from the "Just Can't Cut It" pattern.
Mary H. made this Quilt of Valor.

This Teddy Bear Quilt made by Mary H. will be donated to local social service agencies at the Teddy Bear Tea in April.

Rosemary shows a Quilts of Valor Mystery Quilt which she made. Katy's intricate quilting adds interest and texture.

Sandy showed us her ice dyed t-shirt and a necklace made from potatoes.
