May 5, 2016, Birthday and Show and Tell

After a very short business meeting, we celebrated the 99th birthday of our long-time member, Louise.
Louise is still pretty and happy at 99 years old.

This beautiful cake was made and decorated by Kay.

Satiated by delicious cake and chats with members, we settled down for Show and Tell.

Carol's cute rabbit quilt, along with the stuffed toy rabbit, are a donation for next year's Teddy Bear Tea project.

A comfort quilt.

Another comfort quilt.

Elaine created this microwave bowl at a recent retreat.

One of the gifts from Elaine's recent retreat.

Members liked this adaptation for the 1600 strip quilt pattern which Elaine sewed at the retreat.

Elizabeth created this gift for a friend.

Another one of Elizabeth's friends will receive this quilt gift.

Gail bought a kit on sale and created this comfort quilt donation.

While sorting through comfort quilt fabrics, Gail heard members comment on the ugliness of this fabric. She took on the challenge of making a jacket.

Linda's quilt, a gift for her grandson, was made using men's shirts left over from her Salvation Army Trash to Treasures challenge. The above photo shows the back.
This is the quilt's front.

Marge's tube quilt is unique and striking.

Marilyn created these raven flags while in Oregon during the winter.

Mary finished this heart quilt that Carol Wight Jones had begun. It is a  donation to the small quilt auction at the September quilt show.

Mary's seahorse quilt is also a donation to the small quilt auction.

Shirley has a knack for creating interesting quilts from donations. When finished, this will go to the small quilt auction.

Another small quilt auction donation from Shirley's found fabrics.

Local artist, Teresa Ascone, showed her latest line of fabrics which will be available in quilt shops soon.

Teresa Ascone's new fabric panel left members oohing and aahing.
