October Business Meeting & Show & Tell

God bless the new board members. It was hard getting volunteers to run the guild this year! Today was their first meeting with our new president, Rena Brinker, & VP Jan Wills at the helm.
Rena called the meeting to order with a great duck call, & a flair all her own. Margaret (you know who you are, are really missing a good time)!
Here is introducing a new member who just joined us today. Her name is Carrlin Niess. She recently moved here from Traverse City, Michigan.
Show & Tell started off with a small wall hanging by Kay Fiero, "Only Robinson Caruso got all his work done by Friday".
There were several Comfort Quilts .
Sister Rosario made a stack of "shirt protectors", & the program for the next day group meeting Oct .21st will be a workshop for making a bunch of these for a local nursing home.

Jane Ferguson did this block in the Sharon Schamber "Piecelique' Class".
Pam Harris made these next 2 quilts for her "Fast Friday" challenge group.

She also showed the quilt top given to her by the ALCQ members for her years as President. She is thinking about adding some borders to it, then Deb Hardman will be quilting it for her.
More Comfort quilts were shown.
Bonnie Walker showed her Star quilt, & 2 books that have been published with 2 of her quilts in them.
Doris Roades shared several Advertisements from an 100 year-old paper, with yardage for less than 20 cents a yard, Levis for 25cents, all sorts of fun things. Doris is one of our many living treasures.
She also showed some Feed sacks that were given to her by one of the night-group members to add to her collection.

More comfort quilts.

& several Teddy bears & friends showed up too.

The next Teddy & Friends Tea will be in February 2011.

There was also a request for 24" square soft & textural quilts (we call them Woobies) to be given to Providence Hospital for the terminal patients to hold & be comforted, as they are dying, & to be passed on to their family when they are gone as a remembrance.
